Validation Standards


 

Home blood pressure monitors are tested for accuracy against 2 protocols, the British Hypertension Society (BHS) and The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instruments (AAMI).

 

In March 2001 The British Medical Journal published the results of testing for home blood pressure monitors. Of the 23 devices that were validated, only 5 were recommended. All are Omron products. The chart below shows the model tested and recommended. Some of the model numbers were European model numbers and the associated North & South American model number is shown also, and hence would also be recommended.
